German Language Community Group

Improve your German

Looking to deepen your German speaking, listening and comprehension skills in a friendly, supportive environment through interactive activities?

Join our long-running German Language Group at Gungahlin Library, supported and led by Marion Verbruggen, an experienced language teacher and fluent German speaker with a lifelong passion for languages.

Sessions are social, relaxed, supportive, enjoyable and provide useful language practice. We learn together, encourage one another, and most importantly, enjoy speaking German in a welcoming atmosphere. Each week, everyone is expected to prepare for the activities beforehand at home and then come together to practice, discuss, ask and answer questions, and build vocabulary, fluency, and confidence in speaking in German. In addition, participants at times work on practical grammar exercises that support obtaining strategies and more confidence and fluency in spoken German.

We’re excited to welcome new members who like to share our commitment to learning and community.

Before you join

To help keep the group balanced, new members are invited to try out one session before deciding to join. After that, Marion will have a friendly chat with you to make sure the group is a good fit for your level and goals.

This way, we ensure that everyone feels comfortable, supported, and challenged at the right level.

If this sounds like the right group for you, we’d love to hear from you. Please fill in the below form to express your interest. You will be contacted or put on the waitlist, pending availability and your level.
