Dutch 2

Overview:

This course builds on from ‘Dutch 1’, and is designed for adult learners to get more knowledge and fluency of the Dutch language. It is designed for continuing students with a basic knowledge. Students will be encouraged to participate in language games, role play, listening and speaking exercises.

This 8-week ‘Dutch 2’ course aims to help you in real life situations and conversations. You will explore more vocabulary, grammar patterns and expressions, as well as more peculiarities in spoken language to take you beyond your basic knowledge.

Classes are taught by Marion, who is a passionate native Dutch speaker and professional teacher with over 30 teaching years experience.

Currently only available to adult learners.

Outcomes:

By the end of the course, most students will have acquired enough language to engage in basic conversations in various situations, including to express an opinion on a variety of topics. Most students will be able to read basic texts in Dutch.

The pace of the course will vary according to the group.

Support materials:

Students will be provided with an online live document with support materials to assist with the online lessons. Support materials are not designed to be used without attending the corresponding lessons. Content will be added and adjusted as students progress throughout the course, tailored to the needs of the class.

Learning:

It is recommended that learners continue practicing with the support materials between lessons to achieve fluency and retention of vocabulary and grammar. As each lesson will cover a variety of topics, activities and information - missing lessons can impede learning outcomes.

Requirements:

• A stable internet connection, with webcam and audio capability

• A quiet space with minimal background noise

• A writing-pad and pen to take notes

• Please ensure you have your webcam switched on and your mic off when you join the class.

• Join 10 mins early if you like to test your connection and webcam/audio

Note: It is advised that you have two devices during the live class, so that you can access the support materials while you participate in the live call (i.e. a mobile device with the course materials next to a laptop with the live session). Alternatively you can print out the materials before the class.

How to join:

You will receive a welcome email a week prior to the start date with the Google Meet joining link and further instructions.

• Where: Online live classes via Google Meet

• Time: 6-8 pm AEDT / AEST (short break midway)

• How: Instructions and Google Meet link will be sent to your nominated email address before the course begins.
